A fanatical birder blogging about Screech owls in owl box, backyard birding and wildlife in the Northeast USA.
Your scenery is beautiful! I read some of your latest posts and found the one on pheasants. We have lots here in Illinois so was interested in the fact that you have them too. He probably was pen raised. Hunters wanting to be assured of prey often do that. It is not a practice I like because they don't know how to fend for themselves. Your guy may have more wrong with him than a run in or two since he doesn't seem to want to fly. If you are okay with feeding him and keeping him safe-great. If not, call a zoo or a vet and ask them how he could be helped. And no, I don't think you should disclose owl nests except to real birders. Looking forward to more posts!
Thanks for stopping in and the compliment John - much appreciated.Beckie the pheasant seems to be doing well and I even saw him fly over my pine trees yesterday which was pretty amazing. I try to keep my dog away from him, but he does seem to be street wise enough to fly when needed. I just hope he stays away from the hunters......
